This Butterfly just emerged from it's Chrysalis !
One fascinating detail you might notice is the striking green coloration of the butterfly's eyes. However, this green hue is not what it seems. They have a layer in their compound eyes called the tapetum lucidum or a similar reflective structure. This layer reflects light back through the photoreceptor cells, increasing sensitivity in low-light conditions. The reflection can give their eyes a bright green, blue, or other iridescent glow when viewed at certain angles.
Moments like these remind us of the intricate and often hidden wonders of the natural world. Have you witnessed a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis? Share your stories and photos in the comments below!
